January 2013 Blog

  • With Chris Tsangarides 'The Dark Lord'!
  • With La Petite Manouche
  • With Mr. Barnaby Jackson!

Hello 2013!

What a lovely start to the year it has been. Sun, sand, and long walks mixed in with writing new compositions and, just for fun, learning some old Bach. Apologies for not writing sooner, the last half of 2012 was busy with many different projects going on. Between playing on a punk album, (with legendary heavy metal producer Chris Tsangarides), through to reliving the Gypsy-Swing era with La Petite Manouche, plus teaching all of my beautiful students, it was a busy time!

Now that the Christmas concerts are over and the new year has begun, my brain is busy racing towards new projects which are in the planning. Just to give you an idea, I'm planning a new CD….something a bit different this time….Also another large concert. It is hard to believe that it's almost two years since the Isaac Theatre Royal concert and the devastating earthquake. I am itching to do another show involving more musicians in one of Christchurch's new and beautiful venues. I also have a few local shows coming up with legends like Tom Rainey and Bob Heinz. I'm also excited to be back at the Canterbury folk festival for the first time in about 17 years.

Last but not least, I will be performing at the Brisbane jazz club in May; this is something I'm really excited about!

May 2013 be a fantastic year for us all!

Love,

Fi xx

Thanks Fi and fellow muisicians for a brilliant performance today at our Ingham Lazy Sundays. Biggest crowd ever. Must’ve been well over 3000 people there.
Superb.
